(Camp names come from eatsleepcamp’s personal experiences as a camp counselor)
1. Never assume playful sarcasm or nicknames will be taken as you intend it.
2. Always follow through on what you say you will do. Never promise what you cannot deliver.
3. Always intervene when you hear campers put each other down. Never believe a camper who says, “It doesn’t bother me”.
4. Check in with your campers everyday and be sure to ask them the right questions.
5. Make something special out of unconstructed time – bedtime, free play and rest hour are good times to connect with your campers one on one.
6. When in doubt, DON’T!
7. It’s always better to be thought of as a “great counselor” by your director, than thought of as the “cool counselor” by your campers.
You all are so amazing, thanks for following!
